KISSPEPTIN 10

KISSPEPTIN 10

Summary

Kisspeptin-10 is one of the reference peptides in the endocrine and reproductive field: it is being researched for its role in the natural production of sex hormones and the balance of the reproductive axis. Technically, it is the 10-amino acid C-terminal fragment of kisspeptin (product of the KISS1 gene, also called metastin), an agonist of the KISS1R receptor (GPR54) and one of the master regulators located upstream of GnRH in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.

What is it researched for?

  •   Regulation of the reproductive and endocrine axis
  •   Secretion of gonadotropins (LH and FSH)
  •   Fertility, puberty, and gonadal function
  •   Interaction between metabolic status and reproduction

Mechanism of action

Regulation of the reproductive axis (GnRH stimulation)

Stimulates hypothalamic GnRH neurons, triggering the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary, the initial step in the reproductive cascade.

Signaling via KISS1R receptor (GPR54)

Binds to the G protein-coupled receptor KISS1R (GPR54), activating the Gq/11-phospholipase C pathway, with mobilization of intracellular calcium and activation of the MAPK cascade.

Research in reproduction and metabolism

It is being researched in the context of fertility, puberty, gonadal function, and the interaction between metabolic status and reproduction.

Scientific evidence

LH secretion: In human studies, kisspeptin administration robustly induces LH secretion (Dhillo et al.), confirming its role as an activator of the gonadotropic axis.

GPR54 receptor: Loss of GPR54 function is associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, establishing kisspeptin as an essential regulator of puberty and fertility.

Clinical application: Clinical programs are exploring kisspeptin as a tool to physiologically modulate gonadotropin secretion.

Product use

As a master regulator located upstream of GnRH, Kisspeptin-10 is a unique reference material in reproductive endocrinology research and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. At Peptido BioGenetic, we supply it as a high-purity peptide for laboratory use, with a certificate of analysis (COA) available upon request.
