DSIP

DSIP

Summary

DSIP is one of the reference neuropeptides in the field of sleep, circadian rhythm, and stress: it is researched for its direct relationship with deep sleep architecture. Technically, it is a natural nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) isolated in 1977 from the cerebral blood of sleeping rabbits.

What is it researched for?

  •   Deep delta wave sleep
  •   Circadian rhythm and sleep-wake cycle
  •   Stress response and neuroendocrine axis
  •   Central antioxidant defense

Mechanism of action

Deep sleep and circadian rhythm

Its name comes from its ability to promote delta wave sleep. It modulates glutamatergic signaling and GABAergic neurotransmission, key to the brain's excitation-inhibition balance.

Neuroendocrine axis and stress

It influences neuroendocrine pathways (CRF, ACTH, GnRH, LH, TSH, and GH axis) and monoaminergic systems (dopamine, serotonin, noradrenaline, histamine), with an anti-stress profile.

Antioxidant defense and blood-brain barrier

It increases the activity of antioxidant enzymes (GPx, SOD, catalase, glutathione reductase) and crosses the blood-brain barrier via transporters, facilitating its central action.

Scientific Evidence

Brain distribution: Detected in the thalamus, cortex, cerebellum, hypothalamus, and brainstem, with fluctuations throughout the sleep-wake cycle.

Stress and hormones: Studies describe modulation of stress response and hormone release.

Antioxidation: Cellular models confirm its antioxidant activity.

Product Use

Due to its direct link with delta sleep and its neuroendocrine profile, DSIP is a unique reference material in sleep, circadian rhythm, and stress research. At Peptido BioGenetic, we offer it as a high-purity peptide for laboratory use, with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available upon request.
