EPITHALON

EPITHALON

Summary

Epithalon is one of the benchmark peptides in research on longevity and cellular aging. It is studied for its role in cellular repair, sleep rhythm, and telomere maintenance. Technically, it is a bioregulatory tetrapeptide (sequence AEDG: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) derived from pineal gland epithalamin, and one of the few peptides with direct evidence of telomerase activation in human cells.

What is it researched for?

  •   Telomerase activation and telomere maintenance
  •   Cellular repair and senescence
  •   Circadian rhythm and pineal sleep signaling
  •   Antioxidant defense
  •   Genomic stability and longevity

Mechanism of action

Telomerase and telomere maintenance

It activates the telomerase enzyme, responsible for rebuilding telomeres (the protective ends of chromosomes that shorten with age), counteracting one of the central markers of cellular aging.

Circadian rhythm and antioxidation

It restores pineal signaling (melatonin and serotonin synthesis) and the regularity of the circadian rhythm, and enhances antioxidant defense by reducing reactive oxygen species.

Longevity and genomic stability

It regulates chromatin condensation states, T-lymphocyte maturation, and genome stability.

Scientific evidence

Telomerase: In Prof. Khavinson's work, Epithalon activated telomerase and lengthened telomeres in cultured human fibroblasts, surpassing the Hayflick limit of cell divisions.

Circadian rhythm: Animal models describe normalization of nocturnal melatonin and antioxidant enzymes in aged organisms.

Longevity: Studies in rodents associated pineal peptides with increased life expectancy and lower tumor incidence; also investigated in Drosophila, primates, and human cultures.

Product use

Due to its demonstrated ability to activate telomerase, Epithalon is a first-rate reference material in senescence and longevity research. At Peptido BioGenetic, we offer it as a high-purity peptide for laboratory use, with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available upon request.
